Sunday Shines- Last week of January
Our last week of January came and went. Am I the only one who thought this week flew by? As we are about to start the new month, I am happy to report I'm still feeling positive about the New Year. I have decided not to set a specific goal but rather a phrase. The phrase I am choosing is, "Be Intentional". I would love to live less out of habit this year and more out of intent. Be intentional: when I write, with my time, when I shop. Life goes by fast and if we don't stop and focus on the present we might miss something.
Sad to say I failed at a dry January. Day one I thought giving up wine for the month was a good idea. When I told my husband he responded with,"why?". That was enough for me to calm down and say "no wine in January but distilled liquor is Okay". If I'm being honest its the high content of sugar that bothers me. Even with a couple slip ups there were some positive affects. I definitely slept better and woke up alert. I lost five pounds because less alcohol meant no strange cravings.
Will I continue without wine? Probably not, but my desire for it has lessened. You never know when you'll be offered a nice chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc, I don't want to be rude.
A lesson learned this week was from our 10 year old daughter. As parents you hope and pray your children retain something you teach them. We often say "treat others the way you want to be treated". Completely understand in hurtful situations this can be difficult to do. With the school having its kindness week, our girls participated in several activities. Our oldest wrote a piece about what, "kindness means to her". She was chosen to speak in front of the school. It was a proud moment for us listening to her say "Kindness is like the light, and being mean is like the clouds, we should all want to be the light". Enough said. XO
One look I don't wear often is denim on denim. However, denim shirt and black jeans I can get into, literally. Perhaps the correct word is Chambrary. Has a nice mature sound to it, don't you think?
You know me, always late to the style game, but I am learning. Have you shopped on PoshMark? Amazing used finds if your patient. Which is probably why I haven't had any luck. Until this grey baby showed up. Cross off my wish list, because I scored a J Crew sweater blazer! Styling options are endless so beware.
Favorite Verse this week
Be very careful how you live - not as unwise, but as wise, making the MOST of every opportunity. Ephesians 5:15-16
Cheers to this week. Go be your own sunshine and show your style!
